Director’s Info

With a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Music, Natalie Drummond has been teaching music for the past 20 years.  After completing her Music Education degree through the NC Lateral Entry Program, Natalie became certified as an NC Public School teacher and has taught elementary and middle school music in various areas of eastern NC.  She continues to teach private voice and piano lessons in her studio and also teaches music at the College of the Albemarle.

In addition to teaching, Natalie has performed throughout the eastern US, both as a classical mezzo-soprano, and as a “pop”/musical theater singer.  Her passion has always been gospel music, and she continues to perform in churches throughout the state.  From 2004 through 2010, Natalie produced the shows at the Outer Banks Music Showcase in Kitty Hawk, NC, and also performed as a vocalist/dancer in the shows.

In 2010 Natalie began the Outer Banks Childrens Chorus in Kitty Hawk, NC.  Under her direction, the Childrens’ Chorus received Superior ratings at the Kings Dominion Music Festival in both May 2010 and May 2011.  During her time directing the chorus, many parents of younger elementary students expressed an interest in involving their children in choral music, and some asked if there was a way to incorporate singing and dancing into the chorus.  Thus, the idea for the Limelight Kids Show Choir was born!  For students who want the spotlight experience, but who prefer to gain it in a group setting, Limelight Show Choir will be a powerful experience.
